At our first-ever EU-UK summit, Keir Starmer, António Costa and I have concluded an agreement that opens a new chapter in our unique relationship.

→ For the security and defence of our shared continent.
We have agreed a new Security and Defence Partnership.
It’s the first step towards the UK’s participation in our defence industrial readiness programme SAFE.

→ For our people.
Spending time abroad as a young person is an invaluable experience – one I was able to make myself having been in London as a student.
We have an agreement on Erasmus+ for our young people and a youth experience scheme down the line.

→ On justice and the fight against illegal migration.
Crime does not stop at our borders, but neither will our response.
We will crack down on criminal networks, smugglers and traffickers, to protect our borders and prevent further tragedies.

Today, we have turned a page.

We are writing the next chapter in our unique story.
